: I have the engine out of a 69.5 Mav and have replaced a rusted out panel that the battery tray sits on. I am not a body - fender or sheet metal person. I want to pressure wash with a degresser after removing all the wiring and prime and repaint the engine compartment but there is a lot of surface rust on the coil springs, shock towers and tie rods etc. I'm scared of a sandblaster doing more damage... Does anyone know if there is a spray rust eater treatment that I could spray before pressure washing that would remove the surface layers so I can prime and paint with rust inhibiting paint ???? any advise would be greatly appreicated....Kelly

I think there is a can of spray stuff (in the paint depatment) that serves as a rust remover, then they also have another product that serves both as a rust inhibitor and primer... though once I got the intiial rust away I'd have it checked for strenght... I had to get a new shock mount refabricated at a welding shop for the rear of my 69 1/2...
