Does Martinez count as "close", I don't know if you're familiar with it or not...just about an hour or so (depending on traffic) south (80 to 680) from Sacto. I don't get that way too much (except passing through on my way to the Sierras to go camping). I would dig getting together sometime to swap stories and stuff.
