I considered the torker but thought it might be overkill for my use. As far as the Holley carb goes, I like Holleys but I would rather not have to worry about blowing the power valve . If the Edlebrock unit does not meet my needs, I may have to change. This is really my first "hot rod" so I am just playing by ear right now..

I was going to replace the heads with a set from Summit racing. They set a nice set with 2.02/1.90 valves, spring etc. for about $300.00 a piece. I figured that I would have at least that in rebuilding mine if not more...

: Just two thoughts:

: 1) Have you considered a Torker intake and Holley 600 vac. secondary carb in lieu of the Edelbrock set up? You need RPMs to make horsepower with a small block and the Torker flows real well.

: 2) I notice that you don't have any modifications to the heads. Good springs and retainers are essential. Other concerns to look at are the pressed in rocker studs and replacing worn valve guides.

: Depending upon your budget, some if not all of this work should be considered.
