My $0.02 worth: It depends on how you want to use the car, and what you're looking for. There's nothing wrong with the I-6 engine, and if you want a reliable daily driver, there's no reason to change. Just keep in mind the I-6 was never meant to be a performance engine, and due to the design, it isn't as cheap or easy to make it one. Not to say it can't be done (as many posts in the ongoing debate attest), but the 302 would be more performance oriented than the six.
This subject seems to cause some passionate debate, so I'll don my asbestos suit now...
