The older automatics could be adjusted (bands, modulator valves), but, if it is original without rebuilds, chances are a rebuild is in order. You might be able to get one from a used auto parts dealer. Some places will do a rebuild with just the basics (bands etc.) which helps keep the cost down. Good luck....
