Hey thanks for keeping me in mind! Yes, a used cowl gasket in good shape would be just fine - all the ones I've found so far are in several pieces...
And just so we're on the same page so to speak, what I'm calling a hood pad is really the insulation that attaches to the underside of the hood. Not all Mavericks had it, but many Comets did and even though the hoods from the Comets and Mavericks are different shapes, the insulation is the same for both cars. In any case, thanks for keeping me in mind, and good hunting!

: Sam,
: I'll keep an eye out for a hood as I'm going to the local Pick-A-Part in Houston this weekend. On the other hand I too am looking for a replacement hood to cowl gasket. If you find one please let me know. Will a "used" one work if it's in good condition? If so, let me know and I'll look for one of those as well.

:
: : I'm looking for a source to buy a new or repro hood pad for my '72 Mav. I've checked the usual places (Autokrafters, etc.) with no luck. I could even get by with just a plain piece of material, as I have the old one I could use as a pattern. I would prefer not to use products like Dynamat because I would like to maintain a factory look.
: : I'm also searching for the gasket the fits between the rear edge of the hood and the cowl. Again, checked the usual places with no luck... Can anybody help?
: : Thanks,
: : Sam
