A C-6 definitely would not be a "cheap, temporary fix". To put a C-6 requires MAJOR transmission "hump" modifications. It just is too small and has to be made larger to handle the size of a C-6 properly.

: yeah, if I wanna spend mega bucks on a prebuilt racing trans. I got the 427 from an old drag car that didn't have a trans left to donate, and I'd rather be safe than sorry. The C6 may be heavier and take more power to turn, but it'll be a cheap temporary setup, unless you want to get back to the question I originally asked and tell me what is involved, and that it's really not worth the time and effort.

: : Don't make me put you on my "shit-list" Dave. It'll handle the 'stroker' just fine as well...

: : : The C6 may be fine for a stock 351 application, but not for a 427 stroker. You're 0 and 2 here T.L.

: : : : The C-6 is heavier than a C-4 and requires modification to install in the Maverick. A C-4 is plenty tough enough for a 351 Windsor. It's always a good idea to run an external tranny cooler...

: : : : : One of the other upgrades that I would like to make is to add a 351W and C6 to the car. I'm sure this swap has been done more than a few times. I'm pretty sure I know what all needs to be done, I'd just like to get some input from anyone who has done the swap, and knows what is involved. Thanks, Dave.
