I've heard about the 59 station wagon having the same width rear, but I wasn't sure how much truth there was to it. Thanks for the info, and I think I just might be able to find one of these rare rears.
: :The 65-66 Mustang GT 9" rear end housings are the same width as a Maverick 8 inch. The 28 spline axles for these housings are an easy find, as they are the same the 8" housing axles, but the 31 spline variety are difficult to find and expensive.

I was also thinking of taking one to my stepdad to have it narrowed. I know that in the mid seventies ford went from straight axles to tapered axles. What year was it? Which models came with 31 spline axles or posi units?
