While I don't have the 'Super Comps' (larger tube diameters) my 'Competitions' fit beautifully and were a "cinch" to install. They have to be installed from the bottom (don't they all?!) and is easiest if you remove the motor mounts to 'slip' them in, an engine hoist makes quick work of it (you will have to "move" the engine a bit to get them into place) as you won't have to 'fiddle' with a jack under the motor/car with you. Took less than three hours by myself (with a hoist, crawling in and out from under the car) and I got a good workout to boot! A personal recommendation is to get some "reduced head" bolts for ease of installation and service. They have a "small" head (3/8 socket) on a "standard" threaded shoulder bolt. Makes it easier to torque the bolts! Summit sells them too (sorry, loaned out my catalog and don't have the part #'s handy).
: What brand of headers fit the best for a 302 maverick? The ones I have in my car[ BRAND UNKNOWN] rub the shock towers and fire wall and are so tight I have to pull the heads off to get the motor out or headers out.It also took 2 hours to get the trans down through the headers after it was all unbolted, thought I was going to have to pull the heads to get the trans out.Has any one used Hooker Super Comp Headers? Thanx E.J.
