------------------------------------------------

I have done this once when pulling an instrument cluster out of a junkyard Maverick (wanted
the spare cluster for parts). It takes a little patience, but should be easier if you have
already removed the metal support bar that runs along the bottom (and passes under the radio)
of the dash. You have to lay down on the driver's side floor, and rearch up under the dash to
get at the spedo cable. There's a clip you have to push in (one tab on each side, which you
have to push in at the same time). It's really frustrating to do by feel, but once you've done
it, it'll be much easier the next time.

I don't recall exactly what instructions the Chilton's book gave on the subject, other than
a rehash of what I just said, but if there's something more illuminating (like a picture), I'll
post a follow-up in case you may be interested in getting a photocopy.

Good luck,
Joe
