One word of caution--most directions I've read
specifically state to NOT use any kind of gasket
sealer around the transmission pan when installing
a new gasket. Anything that can work its way into
the fluid and gum up the moving parts (many of which
are rather delicate) is not good.
One possibility--maybe you have a pinhole or hairline
crack in the pan itself? I have heard of it sometimes
happening, since, as the previous post notes, the pans
can be easily damaged.
