Does your timing gear have more than 1 key way
cut into the bottom gear? If so you could be on
the 4 degree retard position. This will move your
power band to the top end. I have run them in the
4 degree advanced position before for more bottom
end but it's always best to run it straight up.
I recently rebuilt my 360 in my CJ5 and picked the
first hi performance cam in the list from Summit
for the AMC V8. The cam had wild idle and no low
end. Above 3,000 RPM the engine wanted to come to
life.(not good for the street) The cam also made
so much heat the fenderwell headers started to
melt the fiberglass inner fenders. Went to stock
cam and all problems were over.
