Are you (Alice) still running points? That could be part of the 'problem' too (Seattle = Very Damp), sota like trying to start a motor after you,ve washed it ...(yes I do this about once a month!) it gets some moisture "trapped" under the Dist cap and has great difficulty firing up. I have installed the Pertronix Ignitor on my 'daily' vehicles (all V8s) and haven't had any troubles since. There are several other "electronic" conversions that do the same type thing. I don't know if they're available for a Sixer or not ... check your fav car mag for some ads, it was about $62 each, but it eliminated all the "quirks" associated with points. And the bonus is: no replacement every 12K miles (as per manufacturer specs). Mine have been fine for 20K+ on my Grabber and 10K+ on my '65 truck (it used to be a real bear to get going in the mornings too!) without ANY problems. ( My Hot Rod is running the ubiquitous MSD box with a mag pick-up dist, and has had absolutely no ignition problems, this however, is NOT an inexpensive route to take ...). It's tough to troubleshoot on the 'net' !!
: Is it the cold weather? It seems if I leave Alice over night I can guarentee that come the morning I'll be spending a good while trying to wake her up... there seems to be plenty of power there, just not quite enough to kick her over. Even after she starts (and I do let her idle for a few minutes in the morning (much to the annoyance of my nieghbors) she still sounds like crap until we've spent time on the freeway. In the afternoon when I pick her back up at the park and ride she's usually just fine... (commuting to Art school.. no WAY am I dealing with Seattle traffic 5 days a week!)
: The radiator was replaced back in September and the cooling system flushed so I know there's plenty of antifreeze... (heater core was also replaced 6 months ago.)
: Does it sound like my alternater's going bad? Almost everything else electrical is also 2 years old at the latest.)
: Maybe it's thta she's just not a morning car....

: PS, as far as her SFA, it's been put on 2-3+ month hold... more than likely I'll just save up the money and have the springs replaced...
