Sam is right. I have a '72 2 door and I had to take the door panels off to install stereo speakers. If you're not too concerned about keeping your car all original, I say just go to the autoparts store and buy new window cranks.

: It sounds like you have the type of window crank handle that has it's screw concealed by a thin piece of foil-like material in the center of the handle. To remove it, try using a knife or similar tool to pry it up (it's fastened with adhesive). Be careful not to bend it too much, as you might have trouble re-gluing it later. Let me know how it works out!

: : I plan to replace the glass felt runs on my 1972 2-door Maverick. While scoping out the job, I could not find any way to remove the window regulator knob so that I can remove the trim panel. The know is not secured by any screws nor can I find a retainer on it's back side. Any assistance is appreciated.
