I had the same problem once.... the leaf spring bushings were so badly worn the the leaf brackest were hitting the frame.

: Check to make sure that you installed the driver's side rear shock correctly. It should be installed forward of the bracket, that is to say, the nut should be facing rearward. If you've got the shock mounted on the wrong side of the bracket, it could be coming in contact with the rear axle, causing your noise.

: : I'm haveing some trouble finding the cause of a rather loud knocking noise that happens when I hit a large or sharp bump. I just replaced the rear shocks and put new shoes in the back end. I've double checked the shock's and thier both fully installed and completely tight. I'm fairly certain I didn't screw up anything in the brakes and can't think of anything in there that would cause that anyway. Do any of you have any ideas on stuff I could check that could be causing it? It's getting kinda loud and I'm getting kinda worried.
