After a little more thinking, there is no doubt that the reason your spedo is wrong, is that when the previous owner switched rear gears, they didn't switch the spedo gear in the tranny. One reason for the play in the rear might be that it wasn't shimmed properly.

: OK, thanks for all of the suggestions, guys. Guess I'll start at the tranny mount (easiest) and eliminate the easy items first. Dumb question time though, where can I get one? Is this a bone yard item or do they sell 'em new? Thanks again!!!

: : Have a problem creeping up that I am unsure of the exact origin. Due to lots of noise and vibration while driving, I took a gamble and replaced botn u-joints. This solved most of the noise and vibration. However, at speeds around 75-80, the vibration comes back REALLY strong. At 65 it is not noticable. The one thing that I did notice while working on the u-joints was that when I grab the differential yoke, it has about an 1/8 inch of radial play in it. I do not know if this is too much. I do not know how many miles the rear end has. The previous owner changed rear ends to get a stouter gear and since the ID tag is missing I have no idea what gear it has. I do know that the speedo is 15 mph fast. Anyone have any ideas???

: : p.s. tires are a little worn....
