: : : : Ok, I have a V8 mav with an auto I would like to convert to a stick. Can I get the linkage from a six banger? It is in a 70 six with a floor mounted 3 speed shifter. Thanx

: : : I have copies of 2 different articles written before the factory started offering V8 Mavericks. One is from Hot Rod and the other from Motor Trend, if my memory serves me right (I'm at work/no copies here). These articles describe the conversions of 6 cyl. cars to V8 power (in fact at least one of them uses a Boss engine) and both are 4 speed conversions (Use to be the ONLY way to build a muscle car!). At least one of the articles, if not both, tells of using a "slightly modified" '67 Mustang Z-bar (otherwise known as an equalizer bar). The article(s) don't go into any detail about what modifications were performed to the Mustang piece. At least it proves it can be done without a factory Maverick V8 Z-bar. This piece IS VERY hard to find. Even if you find one, if the bushings and other little bits and pieces aren't all there or in good condition you still have your work cut out for you. It took me about 6 months of surfing and searching by other means to put together all the pieces I needed to do this swap (still under way). I think it will be worth the trouble when I finally get my car on the road and can row through the gears for myself. If you want it badly enough, I'm sure you can pull it off. Good luck. John B

:According to my Ford Parts man the bushing for the frame side was available as well as the clip that holds the 2 part bushing on the block side together, but the 2 part bushing itself wasn't available, hence my reliance on Perogie Enterprises. John B.
