That was not the idea I had to change axles only. However they do interchange. 28 splines (Small Bearing) The stronger and better 31 splines do not. The 9 inch is better of course but the weight savings and parastatic drag of an 8 inch is benificial when you are not cranking too much horse power. Rule of the thumb is every 100lbs saved is about a tenth of the second in the 1320. An 8 inch will hold up to a fair amount of horse power when equiped with an automatic. My father used to run them behind Big Blocks 428 scjs 390s etc..... and they held up. He went through all the bearings once a year. I was just hoping that the brakes would switch cuz stopping is just as important if not more so than getting up to speed :)
