I payed 300 bucks for my '71 4 door with a I6-200cid. It has some small holes in the floor pans, and has a deep scrap on one of the doors, and the bumper has been pushed it. It belong to an old lady, and I think she hit the bumper against a pole or something in a parking lot. It's never been hit hard tho. But I am definally happy with what I got, and I would go for that deal!

: Sounds like a good deal...I'd pay 600 bucks for the engine and tranny with no prob is it's in good shape. C4 is a tough trans, they tend to outlive the car...hehe. The front linkage would be the components of the stereing, it probably just needs new bushing and such. You could probably get it driving well for 300 bucks or so.

: I would ask him for details about what's wrong with the brakes and the linkage...If it just needs a brake job...that's cheap. I don't know much about mechanics myself, but I learn stuff constantly. The Maverick was built with alot of common sence, and if you just go slow, you could probably do most of the work your self. Just get your hands on a repair manual, and get some sockets and wrenches and screw drives, and you'll be able to do just about anything you need to do with the car.

: Good luck...By the way...where is the car located. If you don't buy it, I'm sure somebody on this board will. You might be able to find somebody on this board to help you with some of the repairs.

: : Hello, I am not very familiar with Ford Maverick nor mechanics, but someone offered to sell me a 1972 Ford Maverick 2 door with a 302?? for $600.00. I havent looked at it yet but he said the engine runs well and the body is in good shape. He said to make it driveable, the brakes and front linkage?? would have to be redone. What exactly is the front linkage and how much would this cost to redo?? Also is $600.00 a good price for this car with the 302 engine in it?? Also he said it has a C4 trans in it?? Is that a good transmission??

: : Thanks
