The brakes should be easy, the most expense that you would put into a Maverick's brakes (replacing drums, pads, wheel cylinders, master cylinder) would be about $300 (parts only). Probably it will only need about $100 worth of work.
The front end linkage must be the steering linkage, I guess. Replacing the idler arm and upper & lower control arm bushings isn't too expensive, (maybe about $75-125) but a whole lot of work. A donor Maverick linkage shouldn't be hard to find. If you need one I've have access to a '73 V8 car that is complete (has PS).
Th C4 is a decent transmission. They are easily availible and will stand up to a mildly modified engine. If the car doesn't drive it will be hard to see how well the trans is. Auto trans overhaul is expensive, and that could make or break the deal.
If you have to completely overhaul the brakes I'd consider swapping to disc brakes from a Granada.

: Hello, I am not very familiar with Ford Maverick nor mechanics, but someone offered to sell me a 1972 Ford Maverick 2 door with a 302?? for $600.00. I havent looked at it yet but he said the engine runs well and the body is in good shape. He said to make it driveable, the brakes and front linkage?? would have to be redone. What exactly is the front linkage and how much would this cost to redo?? Also is $600.00 a good price for this car with the 302 engine in it?? Also he said it has a C4 trans in it?? Is that a good transmission??
