No the flywheels are the same they are both 157tooth but the one for the 5.0 is 50oz un-balanced and the one for the 302 is 28oz. balanced. and you can use either starter they will both bolt to a 5.0 T5 bell housing, but I would recomend using the 5.0 starter. Also I found out that the 5.0 flywheel can be reserfaced and cut down to 28oz. and balanced. They both bolt to the crank the same. The bell housing is a little smaller do to the clutch assembly being different and the input shaft being shorter on the T5.
: That all makes sense but the bellhousing was a much smaller diameter at the bottom. So I would guess the 5.0 flywheel is smaller diameter & would account for the different starter location. Is this true?
