:I put a (c5) econoline trans in my maverick. it's a little more heavy duty than the c4 it worked great and nice hard shifts.
:if your car had a auto, stay with a beefed up C-4, or even to a AOD. if it had a stick shifter and the clutch linkage is already there go with a good 5spd, all depends on the money you want to spend and how much you like to wiggle your arm.

: ok heres the deal. i have a 1972 maverick. i am puttin in a 351W motor. it has GT-40 cast iron ported and polished heads. edelbrock lower intake with a holley doulbe pumper on it. has a decent cam, maybe a little bigger then a E303. MSD6AL ignition.. long tubes. etc..... what would be the best tranny to get the most pull from my motor? any ideas will help. keep in mind, i got a post before saying that my C6 won't fit in my car easily. thanx
