the extra reinforcement is a plate welded just above the frame rail but parallel to it. It goes all around the bottom of the shock tower. It's about the same thickness as the tower material & doubt it would be worth the trouble to install. I'm not sure if the V8 crossmember would clear the 6 cyl oil pan but if it does you can get a V8 crossmember & bolt that on & would probably do more good. Your frame is already drilled & tapped for that. (71 & above)
