: my car rules. when my lights are ON, both my hazard lights and my right turn signal dont work. (the turn signal started this last night), but my left one is just fine, even though the front left signal light is burnt out. i know the rear bulb isnt burnt out, cause it is still on when my lights are on. got any suggestions? i dont want to get pulled over. also, when my car is warmed up, it doesnt want to start. i can remedy the situation by putting a screwdriver, etc. into the carburator (the choke i think). its doing this now EVERY time i start my car EXCEPT in the morning after sitting in the below freezing IL night. its bugging the hell out of me. it starts RIGHT up in the mornings, but every other time, it doesnt want to start? any suggestions? thanks guys!

This sounds like just a choke problem to me. The choke works by cutting off air to the carb
so that the air/fuel mixture is greater so your car will start when it is cold. If you have an electric choke
then when the car warms up, the coil in the choke housing expands and moves the choke
butterfly to the open position, allowing a leaner air/fuel mixture for
driving and warm conditions. The coil inside the housing is heated up by a direct current
coming from the black contact on the back of your alternator. Check also the position of your choke housing
on the carb. These can be adjusted by loosening the three small screws on the back side of the carb
and rotating the housing (toward the passenger side of the car in your case).
Other carbs utilise a small tube running from the exhaust manifold to the bottom of the choke housing.
The heat from the exhaust serves the same purpose as the electrical current: to make the choke spring expand and move
the butterfly open.
If you have to use a crewdriver to hold open the butterfly, then
something tells me its a problem with your choke nopt coming off.
I hope I could be of some help.
E-mail me to let me know how you made out!!
