74Merc, sorry to hear about your health. I don't know much about fords even though I'm starting to restore a 74 mav, but is there a good flowing cast iron exhaust manifold that will fit the mav/comet! Or, could you "clean out/polish" your current set of cast iron units? I know this isn't ford related, but in the late 60's pontiac made a set of cast iron manifolds that flow better than any cheap set of headers. If ford made such a creature i'm thinking that the cast units will last forever and leaks won't be an issue! Do cheap headers really flow any better than a good set of cast iron manifolds? Get the ford folks comments!
: I'm pointing towards Heddman, but I've had two recommendations on Hookers, and one of them says he used the factory column linkage with a little bending to get it to work. anyway, I'm going to keep my column shifter, AOD in a week or so, blah blah blah... I have the original 74 Mercury Comet floor cover that goes all the way across the floor, so no plans for a floor shifter unless someone drops a T5 or Tremec in my lap within a week.
: I don't have the health to pull the headers to replace gaskets every month or so, gimme some more info.
: Thanks
