Mainly Overdrive........Better gas milage. The overdrive goes beyed the 1 to 1 ratio of a regular non overdive transmission as a final gear drive. The AOD are starting to catch on. There is a Chevrolet that is pushing 1,500 Hp and uses an AOD. They adapt them to fit Jeeps as well. So despite the fact they cost alot to build for High Performance applications the end result is worth the effort. :)
