the passenger car(crown vic, grand marquis, etc...) used the 28oz imbalance, so if your robbing a non-performance AOD(which is basically the same as a Mustang AOD anyway) the flywheel is balanced the same as ours. if you swap a 50oz damper and flywheel onto a 28oz imbalance 302, the engine is in for a short life. an aquaintance of mine has proved the theory... anyway, you can check mustangsandmore.com for more info on the balance problems with flywheels for an AOD, a guy got a 28oz flywheel for a 351 to go on his 289 or something...
anyway, I'm starting this swap as soon as my dad helps me pull the damn car in the shop... been researching it for a year or so now...

: :Bolt patterns are the same, don't know about the balancing. always did the swap during a rebuild and just had everything rebalanced anyway.

: Arent the crankshafts different on the 50 oz weighted engines? I didn't think you could just change the dampers and flywheels. -CP

: : : :very good info, only a few things, they did use a rod type "tv" connection on earlier cars were all that way. and Vans also have the "A" servo, and not just the 92s. I have a 89 E-150 AOD, that has the "A" sevro in it. Vans are like trucks just a different body.
: : : One other important thing is the vibration damper has to go with the flywheel weight, most AODs use a 50oz weight which requires the different damper.
