:it's called a "end plate" and it's to keep the trans/bellhousing from rubbing against each other. it's like a big washer.

I remembered a question I thought of some time ago, and for got to ask. What is the metal plate that is sandwitched between the engine and the tranny bellhousing.(NOT the flexplate or fly wheel) Its about 1/16"thick, and has the hole for the starter to fit. What's it called and What's its purpose in life? Thanks Russ
