:I must confess that I haven't decided yet. Looked at some Clarion and Alpine stuff. Not too many options locally. This is a very rural area. I sure am shocked at what has happened to the cost of sound equipment in the last 20 years, but then again I sense that people have raised the bar considerably on what is considered "entry level". Heck, the first car stereo system I bought new was one of them new dang-fangled 8-tracks! (My first car was a $35 brush painted 55 Plymouth flathead 6 boasting a brushed on racing stripe and, in the sound department, a state-of-the-art reverb unit! The safety check consisted of dad pulling all the wheels off to make sure there were brakes in them there drums.)John B.
I had a non a/c car and my aftermarket unit fit with more than enough room. All of the aftermarket radios are basically the same size--I believe 6.25" or so--so you won't have a problem unless you get some stereo that is specifically made for some radically large space. Don't fret about it though, just go and pick out the one you like, as long as it's the normal height (about 2 inches) it'll fit in your dash. By the way, did you decide on what you will be getting yet?
