...the 8" third member's attaching nuts can be removed entirely with a socket and ratchet and the 9" third member requires using a wrench to remove the lower bolts because the pinion bearing retainer doesn't allow clearance for the ratchet and socket combo. It's that easy! The other post is also accurate regarding 7.5" vs. 8" I.D.
