Another option if you already have a fairly well built 302 is a 347 stroker kit for it, then you don't have to buy new headers, distributor, intake, engine...and so on. You can get a kit for around $1500 from several places and it's a good way to up the displacement without the visual effect and added weight of a larger engine.
