Inshan has the best advice... you need some "disposable income" to do all the things you want to do... first thing is to keep it running, second, you need to prioritize, do you like to go out to eat? Movies? Are you willing to sacrifice that? Do you have "connections" (I have a freind who's dad works in a wrecking yard + I've made freinds with local mechanics... I send them buisness, they give me discounts).
The only "economical" way to do it is slowly and surely... took me three years to get my Mav to the "fun" stage of restoration and the "daily" I bought cheap (you get what you pay for)is waiting until next month when I have the means to fix the tranny... I've managed to shave the cost down to around $300 but until then I wait....
Getting Alice re-done has ment leaving her with a *TRUSTED* freind who can only work on her on sundays...
