This is the way I see it: That car is temporary right now. The junkyard trans will get you by until you get Alice back. Then you can decide whether you want to rebuild the transmission (which is already out of the car, saving labor costs) or not. If you sell the car, with the transmission working, you aren't screwing someone. It's an old car, and you can tell them you put in a used transmission. If it works ok likely they won't care.
: Doesn't solve the delima... the yard option shaves off about $200 the repair BUT I don't know about the long term decision... and I sure don't want to screw someone else....
