:Ford never put a 4sp in the Mav. the code is "5" for a small block 4sp. The 4sp overdrive in the Granada/Fairmonts is a very light duty trans. put any horsepower to it and it's history real fast. Just because it has a "top loader" style design does make it strong. Look at the 9" rearend design, some are very weak. and there is two differnt 8" rearends the early ones are very weak also.
