If you do find it is the points or attaching hardware related to the distributor. Do yourself a favor, throw away the points and by a mallory electronic ignition. easy to install,clear instructions,takes about 15 minutes, around $96.00.Put a set in my 73 mav with a 302 2 years ago not had a minutes problem. Uses your distributor,do not have to remove from the engine for installation. good luck.
