: I am trying to find a gas tank sending unit for my 1970 maverick, but none of the local parts stores carry it. Wheres the cheapest place to buy one? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Todd, I recently replaced the tank on my 77. After cleaning up the sending unit and cleaning the small reostat for the fuel gauge, all that was wrong with mine was
a small pin hole on the outside of the tube.
Any shop speciallizing in tanks and/or rads should be able to solder or replace your pickup tube or anyother part of your sending unit. My experience was that a new unit is pretty hard to find. Also, if you rebuild yours, throw out the "sock" on the end of the tube, they varnish up and cause the "sock" to colapse on itself, starving your engine of gas. A new tank should come witha lock-ring and seal.
One last note, my tank was ordered in as an Spectra-Premium F30 and the description on the box was "Versailles & Granada."
Hope this helps, Paul
