March 2000 Hot Rod Magazine (pg. 91) features a 347 stroker set-up. The shop and guy that did up my Boss 302 last year did all the work for the article - even though it is Billy Glidden's motor. .030" over on a 302 is not going to substantially weaken the block, especially if it's a Mexican 302 block. To make room for the increased stroke, you need to notch out a small area of the bottom of each cylinder wall. Again, this won't substantially weaken the block.

The big reason for doing a 347 over a 351 is to keep the smaller rod journal size. 302s have a smaller rod journal size which produces less internal drag and more hp.

By the way, the engine in this article produced 615 hp (with an out of the box intake and carb). After they took it off the dyno, they found that the head gasket in EVERY cylinder was blown out. If they had the time to get the carb jetted, engine broken in, and good head gaskets installed, it would have easily pulled 675 HP
