...when you lower the upper a-frames, you alter the geometry of the front suspension and at or near the suspension travel limits you could exceed the maximum angle of the upper ball joint which in turn could overload and as a result experience failure-- not a good thing for a ball joint. So we put a wedge between the upper a-frame and ball joint to compensate for the change in angle between the a-frame and spindle.
