I know what you mean about the "purist", but it's better than just having the blank grill. :O)

: I did kind of the same thing, except I created the circular part from a piece of aluminum and cut the "horns" from a Maverick emblem using a Dremel tool. Then I drilled the aluminum and pushed the stud of the horn through it creating a froce-fit. I painted the aluminum black, and although a purist can tell it's not original, most other folks can't.

: : Well...while walking through the yard....found the chrome ring for the medallion on the grill. Didn't find the insert, but with Doug's suggestion, took the ring, and used the center from a factory Mav hub cap. Still in the process of cleaning it up, but it fits DAMN well. Just gotta trim the plastic to fit.

: : Figured that I would suggest this....would take a picture, but the camera is outta commission right now.
