The lowest ratio availible for the Maverick in 1970 was 3.20:1. 3.00:1 and 2.79:1 were availible also, and I think one other ratio in-between. -CP

: : I would liketo know what my rear for my 1970 MAverick is. I think it is
: : the 6 3/4 used for the older inlines but I'm not sure. Are the bell
: : housing for my stick three-speed interchangeable with a 4 speed?
: : Can it hook up to a an inline if I change it? Also I would like to know
: : about using a 8 inch or 9 inch. Please e-mail me with any remarks.

: The 4 speed tranny should fit onto your original bell housing. I have a 74 comet that came with a 3 speed. I finally found a ford top loader for 300$ and it goes into place like the 3 speed. Did not have to change the drive shaft, bell housing or anything. I bought Hurst competion plus shifter and it fit good also. The hole in my floor did not have to be modified either. I have a friend who has a mav (73)that did this mod and it went in for him this smooth also.
: Not sure on your rear but if I am not mistaken most 3 speed came with a 350 rear end and the automatics came with a 300. I would double check this info. good luck
