3 is 2.79, 6 is 3:1.

: You might want to add the year of the car...and number of doors(?). The tag might still be on the rearend, but on the door tag, there is a listing for the axle. Don't remember which is which, but on the 8 inch there is a 3 or 6. One for the 2.79, and one for the 3.00.
