then the V10 is for you. A V10 would definitely draw attention, maybe a little more than a 5.4, but I was thinking more about performance. -CP

: If I was worried about potential problems I would just go out and buy a vehicle already built with the kind of performance you mentioned. What I really wanted to do was do some brainstorming and see what kind of ideas the innovative folks on this board could come up with for the V10. So many people give up on a project because it seems like too much work or would take too much time. It's my feeling that you can overcome just about any problem with enough planning and thought. Obviously the V10 presents many hurdles but can you imagine the satisfaction after completing such a project? I suppose one could make the argument that it would be a lot of money spent on a result that could be accomplished more cheaply another way, but if we were all looking for return on our dollar, we damn sure wouldn't be building Mavericks. I think in order to make the caliber of our cars a little better we have to be able to think freely and not be afraid to tackle something even if it ends up being a one-off experiment. Can you imagine the kind of press something like a V10 Maverick would generate? And think how it would inspire others to go out on a limb and be a Maverick :) Just my thoughts...

: : I was thinking about Sam's post last month about a V10 swap. While the V10 would be better for shock value, the 5.4L would be a better choice. There are now two versions of the 5.4 that outperform the V10. The Lincoln Navigator now has a 300hp DOHC 5.4L (uses cobra heads), and the Lightning has a supercharged SOHC motor for 360hp. These engines are the same width as the V10, but are 1 cyl shorter and that would eliminate many potential problems. -CP
