: Ok , after looking at the diagram I think it is the number 37 wire from the starter relay (splits off to 25) the 25 wire goes to the headlight switch. But something comfuses me, when this happens the car starts up and runs fine, yet if everything is off it still draws current? Is it a possibility that it is shorting , but still having enough resistance in the shorted connection to allow the other components to operate (coil, alt. , starter) (current flows in path of least resistance).Sorry , I just don't get it.

This may be a shot in the dark, but you may want to also check your wiring for good grounds. Start with the main ground at the battery to engine, and the main ground strap from the firewall to the engine. Then check each subcomponent's ground point (the wiring diagram should help). I've heard of bad grounds causing all kinds of strange electrical problems. When the electricity can't find its way back to the battery the way it's supposed to, it will find another way, usually by some path the engineers never intended. The end result is often a car that acts as if it's been posessed by demons.

I feel your pain--I've been restoring a '67 Mustang, and the last mechanical demon I'm trying to exorcise is an intermittent failure to crank when I turn the ignition key. I know that the electricity isn't getting from the switch to the "start" terminal on the starter solenoid (voltmeter already told me that). I've already replaced the switch and cleaned some connectors that join the outside and under dash wiring, to no effect. Looks like I'm just going to have to trace the wiring from the switch under the dash and all the way back to the solenoid....
