When I talked to a shop about doing a custom dual exhaust the guy told me I would have to replace the gas tank if I wanted the exhaust to come straight out the back (which I do) because of the offset gas tank. He appeared to be aware of Mavs, his son has a 74. Is there any way around this problem (pardon the pun). Would a tank from a later year mav help? I would appreciate any help you can give. Thanks
The 76 mav. that I just bought has a custom built 2 1/2" exhaust system and they routed the drivers side tail pipe over the top of the rear end and over to the passanger side tail pipe and ran them side by side to the back. I couldn't figure out why, but maybe it was because of the gas tank. The gas tank was taken out later and a fuel cell put in the truck. Once I get the tank back in, that might answer the question.
