The problem that some shops have with the tank is that it is not only offset to one side, but the rubber fuel line runs real close to the exhaust on the driver's side. Keep looking around, you should be able to find a shop to do it for you...I have seen it done before.

: I am rebuilding a 71 mav. When I talked to a shop about doing a custom dual exhaust the guy told me I would have to replace the gas tank if I wanted the exhaust to come straight out the back (which I do) because of the offset gas tank. He appeared to be aware of Mavs, his son has a 74. Is there any way around this problem (pardon the pun). Would a tank from a later year mav help? I would appreciate any help you can give. Thanks
