: I have a 1973 Maverick with a 302. Right now I am putting a long block in to the car. Right now I have the new engine set into place and the headers set into place. My question is will the stock Linkage to put the trans into gear work with the headers (Headman part #88300) because it doesnt look like it will work. I have another question about the linkage. I got a long block from the local rebuilders with a R/V cam in it. My question is the new block doesnt have the same bolt holes for the braket to hold this linkage into place. On this new block it has a bold hole going up and down, the old block has a bold hole going sideways. do you have to have this braket in place or will I have to convert the car to a floor shift? Any sugestions would be helpful.

: Thanks

Well, I have never found a set of headers that will fit with the colum shifter.
You will more than likely have to get a cable operated floor shifter, then watch out for the cable against the header thing.....
Headers can be a pain for a street car
