is your timing advancing properly? check the timing with the car in park or whatever, disconnect the vacuum advance, rev it to around 2000, see what your timing does, should advance, not real sure on how much... depends on the centrifical springs tension...

: I have replaced thermostat twice, along with water pump.My timing is set at 12 degrees BTC.I have had it happen once while going 45 but hasn't happened since new thermostat was installed , but now it happens at full throttle(from dead stop) and anything over 60.I was wondering if this could be because engine hasn't been fully broken in yet (500 miles on engine)?It started this problem around 300 miles.What kind of engine damage can be caused from this?And can cracked head cause this?I have been losing water , it is coming out of over flow from excessive pressure.I am not trying to speculate but just want to go over all possible problems, Thanks
