Ford 390's are BIG BLOCKS!

...and they are MUCH heavier than a smallblock motor. It is the same block (external dimensions) as the "Mighty" 427 & 428 (it's more 'famous' cousins) and would NOT fit in your Mav's engine bay without some modifications (to your engine bay that is!) If you just want to add some cubic inches/ponies, the 351 is the "easiest" way and can be bored and stroked (to 427 or more!) to add even more 'go power'. If you're doing it to be a little different (Hey, it's YOUR car right!)then some welding and fabrication experience would be VERY helpful. I happen to have two Mavericks and a Ford Truck (with a Big Block in it) and was considering such a swap myself (got three "spare" FE's in the shed)but decided it's a little too much work to do it right now (too many projects already going!), maybe someday...
