: In Texas, you can work directly with the County Tax Assessor who act as agents for the state. They will issue a Bonded title when proper ownership documents are unavailable, to protect previous and
subsequent owners and lien holders from possible claims. The bond is issued in the title applicant’s name for a 3-year period. Maybe in other states, it is more complicated, though. -Doug
