Make sure if you replace the negitive cable that you install a good ground (at least 12ga wire) directly from the negitive terminal to the base of the voltage regulator. Origional cables had 3 connections on them. The battery end, the eyelet end for the engine block, & an extra eyelet tapped off about 1/3 away from the battery which bolted to the regulator base. Replacement cables donot include this important connection. Failure to do so can fry regulators in about 3 seconds
